Introductory English Centre Enrolments

Our Introductory English Centre (IEC) is an introduction to school life in Australia. The main focus of the IEC is to increase children's oral ability, ensuring that they can understand instructions and communicate with their peers. Our IEC welcomes students from the local surrounding primary schools. This centre is available for those children for whom English is a new language.

Upon enrolment in your local primary school, a teacher may complete an On Entry English assessment to determine if your child is eligible for the IEC. If so, a referral will be made by the local school to our IEC. You do not need to complete a new enrolment form. Once our school receives the referral, we will be in touch with you to make a time for an interview.

Children stay in the IEC for approximately two school terms, then exit to their local school. Our IEC classes are limited to 15 children in each class. Our teachers have a qualification in English as an Additional Language (EAL/D).

Temporary residents must contact the International Education Unit (IEU) ieu@act.gov.au before contacting IEC.
