Being an IB World School

North Ainslie Primary School is a proud IB World School and recognises the International Baccalaureate as a global leader in international education. Its focus on lifelong learning and the building of conceptual understanding through its Primary Years Program (PYP) ensures that we are student-focussed and committed to developing the skills of 21st century learners. A belief in the purpose of educating young people and which is reflected in our school motto “look to the future”. The foundations of our Primary Years program (PYP) begins at our two preschool locations, Hackett and North Ainslie and carries right through to our students graduating primary school in year 6.

Our Primary Years Program (PYP) provides the transdisciplinary curriculum framework for teaching our Australian Curriculum(V9). The desired impact being that it provides context to our curriculum and assists students to build knowledge, conceptual understandings, skills and the attributes of the IB Learner profile. Our global perspective and future-focus means students are aware of the needs of not only their immediate community, but engage in what's happening around the world and build skills as critical thinkers, problem solvers and are informed young citizens.

The explicit teaching of knowledge and skills and providing opportunities for students to apply them through the inquiry process is a well-researched approach to mobilising and empowering our students to be agents of their own educational journey by taking responsibility and ownership over their learning.

Our commitment to being an IB World School extends to not only our students but high-quality professional development which encourages our teachers to build their own professional capacity as critical thinkers, reflecting on their own practice to ensure they themselves embody what it means to be lifelong learners.
