As global citizens, all staff and students contribute to actions that promote sustainability.
North Ainslie has demonstrated continued excellence across the Actsmart Schools focus areas of waste, energy, water, biodiversity and school grounds and curriculum. We focus on ensuring student involvement and action in our sustainability upgrades and commitment to consistent effort.
Highlights include:
- the redevelopment of the senior oval with a water harvested and biodiverse nature scapes that includes ovals, seating, sensory gardens and natural landscapes
- the creation of Iris the Ibis, a mascot that is hosted by the class with the least amount of waste going to landfill
- student led climate change action involving students from across the school meeting to share presentations and well researched viewpoints.
In 2020, NAPS was awarded the ACT Most Sustainable School award. Our Green Team, along with our Personal and Community Health (PaCH) programme, supports this learning and action across the school.
